Vidi ("we", "us", "our") operates Vidi. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.
Our core principle: Your video footage never leaves your machine. Vidi is built local-first by design.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information:
- Email address (for authentication and communication)
- Name (for account display)
- Password (stored as a salted hash — we cannot read it)
Usage Data:
- AI analysis request counts and transcription minutes (for usage limits)
- Subscription status and billing identifiers (managed by Paddle)
- Device registration information (device name, OS, for multi-device management)
- Performance Telemetry (optional, with your consent):
Hardware tier (CPU family, memory range — not exact specs), processing speed category
(fast/medium/slow — not exact timings), macOS major version, and Vidi app version.
This data is generalized on-device before transmission and is never linked to your account
or identity.
Data Sent for AI Processing:
- Extracted video frames (individual images) — sent to our API for AI vision analysis
- Extracted audio segments — sent to our API for speech-to-text transcription
- These are processed in real-time and not stored after the processing session completes
What We Do NOT Collect:
- Your original video files
- Your project files or timeline data
- Browsing history or third-party tracking data
- Data from other applications on your machine
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Service (authentication, AI processing, usage tracking)
- To process payments through Paddle (our merchant of record)
- To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)
- To respond to support requests
- To improve the Service based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns and
(with your consent) generalized hardware performance data
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Vidi:
- Paddle — Payment processing and subscription management. Paddle acts as our merchant of record and has its own privacy policy.
- AI Vision Provider — Analysis of extracted frames. Processed via API; frames are not retained by the provider per their API data policy.
- Speech-to-Text Provider — Transcription of extracted audio. Processed via API; audio is not retained by the provider per their API data policy.
- Resend — Transactional email delivery (verification, password resets).
5. Data Storage and Security
Account data and metadata are stored in a secured cloud database. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Your local data (local cache, extracted frames, project files) remains on your machine and is managed by the Vidi desktop application.
6. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request.
- Usage records: Retained for billing and limit enforcement. Anonymized after 12 months.
- AI processing data: Frames and audio are processed in real-time and discarded immediately after. Not stored on our servers.
- Performance telemetry (if consented): Aggregated immediately on receipt.
Individual submissions are discarded. Aggregated data retained for 12 months, then deleted.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data by contacting us
- Correct inaccurate information in your account settings
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting us
- Export your data upon request
- Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time
8. Cookies
The landing page at withvidi.ai does not use cookies or tracking scripts. The web application uses session cookies strictly for authentication — no third-party tracking cookies are used.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
